After the disappointment of cancelling the 2020 Festival, we were determined to bring our community together to celebrate music through the performances of the student musicians and to enable their families to share their excitement. We created a ‘virtual’ festival, participants recorded their performances on YouTube and submitted the recording to our adjudicators.

The organizing committee was deeply gratified with the enthusiastic participation. Over 60 individuals from Banff, Canmore and Cochrane registered with close to 150 virtual performances despite the unique technical challenges.

The 2021 event boasted entries from speech, classical voice, musical theatre, fiddle, classical strings, brass, woodwinds and all levels of piano. Studio teachers expressed their gratitude for the event, which served to motivate their students to keep practicing.

Our adjudicators provided valuable feedback for each performance, supporting each participant in their musical journey. This year six individuals were recommended by the adjudicators to represent the Festival at the Alberta Provincial Music Festival including Aubrey Baux in Musical Theatre, Rowan Dial, Terrance Eggenberger, Iri Takano and Mya Yuh in Piano, and Melie Inageda in Strings.

Congratulations to Iri Takano! Iri won first place in Piano Solo – Grades 10 & Associate Diploma (ARCT).

Sadly, we were unable to hold our usual Showcase Concert. We put together a video showing the spectrum of this year’s wonderful performances. Please click above to view.
